Greetings to you all. Alberta Slim started his singing career at CKCK
radio station in Regina, Saskatoon in the spring of 1937. The program was
sponsored by the Army and Navy Stores and was announced by Bill Schultz.
After three years of singing every morning at 10.00 am, Slim moved on to
CFQC in Saskatoon where the program manager, Cy Cairns, hired Slim to
sing every morning.

Slim's morning program was at 7:00 am and he stayed at CFQC for four years, sponsored by Saskatoon Dairy and a local furrier. In 1944, Slim returned to
Regina and sang on radio station CKRM, again in the 7:00 am morning slot,
for about three years. The farmers would call in and congratulate Slim, as he
kept them company during their morning chores. Many a farm girl milked cows
to the rhythm of Slim's tunes.

Slim left CKRM in 1947 and travelled to New Westminister, B.C. where he was invited to join CKNW by owner Bill Rae. After appearances on the "Rangers Cabin", Slim was given his own 15-minute morning show, announced by Bill Fox.

For many years in the summer Slim would travel across Canada and the northern U.S. with his Circus show of several performing animals including his horse "Kitten", who performed many tricks and told fortunes. Also in the Circus was an elephant who played a mouth organ, a dog who sang harmony with Slim, and a chimp who rode a bicycle and walked a tight rope. Now approaching the age of 92, Slim is still performing his songs at folk festivals and celebrations across Canada. Blessed with good health, he sings and yodels all your favourites.
